From Our Principals
This week we welcome back Mrs Rheumer who has been on secondment for the past 7 weeks at Weeden Heights Primary School in Vermont South. We are very pleased to see her back at Scoresby PS and she has lots of things to share with us about her experiences. I know Mrs Rheumer missed many of the students while she was away! Mrs Rheumer is preparing to take over as Principal at Scoresby PS for term 4 while Sue is on long service leave for the term.
SCHOOL FEES
This year, we are significantly behind in the collection of school fees. Currently, approximately 47% of our annual school fees have been paid. We understand that the rising cost of living is placing increased financial pressure on many families in our community. These increased costs are also being felt by the school.
We would greatly appreciate any contribution you are able to make towards this year's school fees. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, any amount you can contribute will still be greatly appreciated. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us meet the costs we have incurred in providing resources and opportunities for our students.
School fees help cover essential items and programs, including student stationery, paper, craft materials and paints, music resources and sports equipment.
This can be paid via the COMPASS app or the office.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and for any contribution you are able to make.
The last 2 weeks
There’s been lots of good news and special events happening at Scoresby PS over the last 2 weeks!
District Athletics 🏆 WE WON! And We Have the shield to prove It!
A very excited group of students burst into my office last week to tell me the wonderful news — Scoresby Primary School won the Bayswater District Athletics Competition! And, of course, they had the shield to prove it! They couldn’t have been any happier, and the teachers couldn’t have been any prouder. There were big smiles all round!
On the day, our students competed with determination, enthusiasm and great sportsmanship, winning an incredible 11 events. Their hard work, commitment and willingness to give everything a go certainly paid off.
Even more exciting is that eight of our students have qualified to progress to the next level of competition. This is a fantastic achievement and one that we are incredibly proud of.
Congratulations to all of our athletes who represented Scoresby PS so proudly. Whether they finished first, second, third or simply gave their best effort, every student should be proud of their achievement.
A huge thank you also goes to Mrs Coster for all of her work in organising, fielding the teams and training the students – your hard work paid off. Thanks also to the staff and families who supported our students and helped make the day such a success.
State School Spectacular
What an amazing experience our students had this year as part of the Victorian State Schools Spectacular Choir!
Our girls represented Scoresby Primary School with such enthusiasm, commitment and pride. Performing alongside thousands of Victorian government school students in such a spectacular production is an experience they will remember for many years to come. This year they were part of the 1,200 student choir.
Being part of the choir provided our students with the opportunity to develop their musical skills, make new friends and experience the excitement of performing on such a large stage. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school.
A very special thank you to Mrs Fox for her commitment, encouragement and support throughout the experience. Her dedication to providing our students with opportunities to develop their love of music is truly appreciated.
And to our wonderful girls — well done! We hope you enjoyed every minute of this amazing experience. You certainly made us very proud! The State School Spectacular is a wonderful achievement and a fantastic memory to treasure!
MORE ACHIEVEMENTS TO CELEBRATE
GRADE 1 MATHS SUPERSTAR!
Logan is a grade 1 boy who loves Maths! He is one of those students who find maths easy; it makes sense to him. He works logically and systematically, and last week he fully completed our Rainbow Maths program. This usually takes our students 3-4 years to complete. Logan knows his timetables to 1-12, he is able to use the 4 operations with numbers to 100 easily, and he has a basic understanding of the base 10 number system including decimals and fractions.
A huge Scoresby Superstars congratulations to Logan – you truly are a MATHS WIZZ. Can’t wait to see where you take your Maths learning in your very bright future!
FOUNDATION RUNNING SUPERSTAR
Harper has run 100 laps of our school oval this year by attending Run Club every Tuesday morning with her friends. Congratulations young Harper what terrific persistence and determination you show! Keep on running Harper it’s so good for you. We look forward to seeing you in years to come with medals at our sporting events.
