Celebrating Our Writing Growth in Prep!

We are so proud of the growth our Prep students have made in Writing! These sample pieces showcase the progress they have made through daily handwriting, phonics and dictation activities, explicit sentence and grammar teaching, and regular opportunities to write about their experiences.

Our students are becoming more confident in forming letters, writing sentences, using capital letters and punctuation, and rereading their work to check that it makes sense.

Most importantly, we are seeing growing confidence, independence and a willingness to have a go. We are incredibly proud of our young writers!

Firefighters Visit

Our Prep students were excited to welcome the Templestowe Fire Fighters to our school last week. They learnt about the important role fire fighters play in keeping our community safe and how they respond to emergencies. Students enjoyed exploring the fire truck, learning about the equipment used by fire fighters and they even had the opportunity to use the hose to spray water. It was a fun and engaging experience that helped students develop a greater understanding of community helpers and the valuable work they do.

Congratulations to the Grand Finalists of Tempy’s Got Talent!

On Tuesday, the school held the Grand Final of Tempy’s Got Talent, filled with incredible performances from our talented students.

Tempy’s Got Talent started as an idea from the Grade 6 Performing Arts Captains. They wanted to find out which house had the most talent! During Performing Arts classes, students worked on a talent to share with their class, with a select few advancing to the semi-finals to perform for their house.

Teachers from each house then chose the students who would represent their house in the Grand Final. In Week 10, students from Prep to Grade 6 gathered under the COLA, sitting with their houses and witnessing the incredible talents of our finalists.

A huge congratulations to all our finalists for sharing their talents and entertaining the school. A special congratulations goes to our winners!

In third place, Valerie Z and Jorji Q from 3C performed Beethoven’s Ode to Joy on cello and piano.

In second place, Aiden E and Philip O wowed the audience with their impressive magic tricks.

Taking out first place, was none other than Elli C from 6ES, who sang and played the piano. Her soulful singing voice left the audience completely captivated.

We are so lucky to have such talented students at TPPS and to have had the opportunity to celebrate and witness their incredible performances. Congratulations to everyone who took part in Tempy’s Got Talent!
