CELEBRATIONS FOR THE END OF YEAR 12 2021

The final weeks of classes for Year 12 students, was a very different affair this year. This year in their last weeks of school, the group of Year 12s were the only students present onsite at school but that did not dampen their enthusiasm for celebrating the end of their secondary education.

The students embraced the opportunity to enjoy some shared events. Friday 15th October was a themed ‘come as your childhood dream job’. This Monday was a ‘replace one piece of uniform’ day. The final day of classes on Tuesday 19th October saw the students come in casual clothes They were also provided with a boxed lunch from the Canteen to share together following the appropriate COVID protocols before sharing a viewing of their virtual Year 12 Graduation Ceremony at the end of the day.

The Year 12 Graduation for 2021 celebrated the achievements of all our year 12 students in a virtual Graduation Ceremony conducted at the College. Students were presented with their Brighton Secondary College Graduation Certificates and a small gift from the college. Awards were given for each of the Year 12 studies and overall Key Learning Area awards. Charles Paul was named as the recipient of the Principal’s Award for 2021, Sydney James was awarded the GP Rowney Citizenship Award for her work in the environmental area and Maria Luiza Guimaraes received the International Student’s Award. In addition, Mr Minack acquired an outstanding piece of artwork (The Principal’s Art Acquisition) produced by year 12 student, Sydney James. This year 12 group in particular, are all deserving of an award for having shown the fortitude and resilience to make it to the end of a very challenging final two years of secondary schooling.

The complete Graduation Ceremony video including speeches from College Principal Mr Minack, the College Council President Mr Asaf Harel, Year 12 Student Manager Ms Behrendt, and College Captains and International Captain has made available to all Year 12 families to view and enjoy together as a family at home.

I would like to congratulate all the Year 12 students on their achievements this year and throughout their entire VCE. They have shown great resilience and determination regardless of what 2020 and 2021 has thrown at them as the world has experienced the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On a personal note, I am very proud of you all and wish you every success in the years ahead.
