Professional Learning Communities

With their work spanning across Terms One and Two, our School Improvement Team (SIT) members recently completed their Professional Learning Communities training. Here our team leaders developed their shared vision and sense of purpose for school improvement, reviewing current practices to ensure that data is used to inform improvements in teaching and learning. Encapsulated in a Pecha Kucha style presentation, last week, SIT members shared their professional development journey to the audience of schools undertaking the training. The SIT looks forward to further supporting our staff in their quest to enhance learning and wellbeing.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Recent SEL lessons have seen our students continue to assess problem solving situations and possible strategies for managing these. Students have also explored the notion that problem-solving strategies elicit different outcomes. Using literature including Picture Story books, to help students identify possible problems and their solutions is proving engaging, with students recently providing alternate solutions for characters in ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. We have also enjoyed a Big Adventure ‘Strengths’ finding mission, where students finished by discussing ways in which strengths can assist in solving problems. Our final Term Two sessions will be held across next week and as always, I relish this chance to work with and for our students.
