Lord Jesus,
I give you my hands to do your work.
I give you my feet to go your way.
I give you my eyes to see as you do.
I give you my tongue to speak your words.
I give you my mind that you may think in me.
I give you my spirit that you may pray in me. Above all,
I give you my heart that you may love in me your Father and all mankind.
I give you my whole self that you may grow in me, so that it is you,
Lord Jesus, who live and work and pray in me.
Amen
Last week our Year 6 leaders for 2023 were inducted during our Opening School Mass. At the end of the mass the children received their leadership badges and recited the prayer of dedication in front of the congregation. It was lovely to see so many families able to be present. Thank you to Fr Anthony for making this mass a special occasion for all involved.
Last Wednesday each family will have received a small Project Compassion box to keep in their home during Lent. We are particularly encouraged during Lent to give greater attention those who might be in need.
One way we are able to do this as a Catholic Community is by supporting Project Compassion run by CARITAS Australia and over the next forty days of Lent we should be looking to make monetary contributions (big or small) to these boxes.
We are aware of many local families doing it tough given the current circumstances so prayers for those in need and random acts of kindness that don't cost money can be just as good as a monetary contribution!
Every year, thousands of schools across Australia participate in Project Compassion. In the coming weeks your child will be bringing home a project compassion Box. This is a time to help those less fortunate then ourselves. For your information here is a link to the website that gives the background story of this organisation and the excellent work that they do. https://lent.caritas.org.au/students
On Wednesday the 22nd of February we celebrated Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40-day season marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him.
