BIODIVERSITY AUDIT UNDERWAY FOR THIS YEAR

Junior McFaul, Junior Lam and Junior O'Meara students have been counting large trees and small shrubs in our school yard to work on this year’s Biodiversity audit. Teachers assisted students to tally native and exotic plant species in our school grounds. This tally will then be uploaded and reviewed by Sustainability Victoria and our school will be given an overall score. This will give us information about how we are going creating habitats for native animals and birds and how well we are utilizing areas for native green spaces and kitchen garden areas.  Students noticed some of our older gum trees are  tagged and numbered which means they are regularly checked by an arborist every year to assess the health of the trees.
