Dear parents, carers and students,

WOW! We are nearly at the end of the year and I trust everyone is looking forward to the January break. In the past week alone a number of activities have taken place to mark the end of the year. The SRC had a bowling activity last Wednesday, this included students from our early years all the way through to our year 12 students who came back to school for the activity. It was wonderful to see the older students supporting the younger students. Bowling seemed to be a common theme with the upper juniors (PLC3) going to bowling and laser tag as part of their graduating celebration for juniors into seniors. PLC 2 & 3 are going into the Variety club this week - an annual event that some of our students have traditionally attended. If past experience is anything to go by its a huge day, the students really love the experience and they come back to school very tired. PLC 1 will go on a more localised excursion to celebrate the end of the year. Our senior students this week are on an alternative program and our year 11 students have completed their introduction to SBAT (School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeships).

Tomorrow is statewide Transition Day and we are looking forward to seeing all our new students and parents tomorrow. Many of the students have already been involved in some transition days. This Friday there is a dress up day as well as our end of year assembly. It is an important event where we recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students. It will be held first thing Friday morning and parents are welcome.

Child safety and wellbeing at Naranga School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Naranga School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our website. You can find them at this link.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

Recent school policy updates

Naranga School is scheduled for a School Review in term 1 of 2023. As part of this process the school has undergone a whole-scale review of its policies. It is important that the school community is aware of our school policies and has the opportunity to provide feedback. Concert USB Update:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are currently experiencing delays in finishing the 2022 Naranga "Friendship" concert USB. We understand this is very frustrating for those wanting to purchase, but we are working on a remedy as we speak.

We are aiming to have an order form out to you during the next week. Many apologies!
