Specialist Timetable

This semester (Terms 3 & 4) all Foundation students will participate in the following specialist classes on Wednesdays:

Visual Arts, Physical Education (P.E.) and Information Communication Technology (I.C.T.).

Students are to wear their P.E. uniforms on Wednesdays and Fridays.

PMP

PMP lessons will continue this term and will occur fortnightly on Friday afternoons, alternating with assemblies. Students should wear their sports uniform every Friday so there is no confusion.

Homework

Both the green (homework) and the blue (communication) folders will still be in use this semester. We will be continuing to give students new readers on Mondays and collecting the readers on Fridays. Please record and sign off on your child’s nightly reading in their ‘Reading Record’ book so that the teachers can monitor their reading.

Speaking and Listening Experience

We will be commencing Speaking and Listening Experience (Show and Tell) in Week 2 (Monday 27th of July) this term. Students are invited to share certain objects for Speaking and Listening Experience on their M100W testing day. While we are remote learning this will happen at the 3pm Google Meet each day.

Below is the list of topics we ask students to focus on for Speaking and Listening Experience. They may show an item or prop to help them.

Students should try and speak about their topic for about a minute and at the end they will choose up to 2 friends from the audience to ask a question. Please discuss with your child what they are going to say about their Speaking and Listening Experience topic.

100 Days of School Celebration

Our 100 Days of School celebrations will take place on Wednesday 12th of August.

On this day, the students will have special activities to complete to celebrate their 100 Days of School.

We will be preparing a Show Bag for students that will include resources for activities and some special treats to acknowledge this special day. Each family will be required to pick up their child’s show bag on either Monday 10th August or Tuesday 11th August. This will be set up through the School Interview System and each family will be able to book a set time to come and collect their child/ren’s show bag. The children can make their 100 Days of School crown some time on the Tuesday so that they can wear it on the Wednesday.

Parents are asked to send us a short video (max 8 seconds) with their child saying ‘My favourite thing about school has been….’. We will make a Foundation video from these to share in our newsletter.
