Psychologist in print.

Hi from Michelle

Learning from home continues....for now!

No-one knows how our lives have changed yet, but we know they have changed. This includes life at school. Students may be feeling uncertain. This is where all your efforts will be rewarded. Every time you maintained routines and stayed connected to class you have been preparing for this moment.

We have all heard face to face teaching will return on the 26th of May. This may be an emotional time for all of us. Our reactions will be confusing. We can be happy to return to school, but sad to lose all we have gained. We can be excited and nervous at the same time. Our students feel the same and they may communicate this with their behaviour.

I offer this 4 step intervention

1. Stay safe.

2. Be the calmest person in the house.

3. Validate the feeling. Say things like "It's normal to be nervous, I am too"

4. Be kind to yourself and others. Being kind to others in times of change helps us adjust.

The time for reflection is coming....

For now, I wish to thank every parent, sibling, friend, grandparent, cousin, aunt, uncle or agency worker who supported our students to learn successfully while staying home.
