This Week's Focus

Foundation - This week in P.E. the Foundation students are beginning to go through the basics of throwing. There are six basic steps which are outlined in both the written planner and the clip which accompanies it. There is also a basic throwing activity to get the children started on this key skill.

Year 1/2's - The 1/2's  this week are continuing  with their unit on throwing. They start off by going over the different steps to throwing an object and then get into a couple of separate activities to practice this skill.

Year 3/4's - Unfortunately the gymnastics unit that was planned for the 3/4 students will not be able to proceed at this stage. In place of this, the students will continue on with the basketball unit that has been run instead of gymnastics. For the basketball unit, dribbling continues to be a focus, while jump stopping and pivoting are new skills that have been introduced for this week.

Year 5/6's - Similar to the 3/4's, the 5/6's continue on with their basketball unit focusing on dribbling as well as practicing jump stopping and pivoting for the first time. These skills have been incorporated into a couple of different activities where the students should hopefully be able to have a bit of fun at the same time.

Inter School Sport

Obviously the recent announcement detailing a further two week lockdown puts a number of Inter School activities, that we were all looking forward to, in jeopardy. Fingers crossed that some of these events will still go ahead, but until the lockdown ends and further announcements are made, it is difficult to assess their viability.
