Busy Times in Week 3

Hi Everyone, I hope everything is going well with yourself and your families. Well, we are nearly through our first full week of school for the year and all of the classrooms are starting to settle into somewhat of a normal routine. I have to say, it has been an interesting fortnight for myself as a principal as I encountered some minor challenges, including attempting to access a chromebook charger, where the keys have mysteriously disappeared. From that experience, I can definitely tell you that my handywork skills have not improved at all! As after all my twisting the handle in different directions and a lot of cursing, Mrs Pittman saved the day with a delicate touch.

Anyway through my visits to all of the classrooms, I have been impressed with the enthusiasm and engagement that all of the students are showing in a wide range of topics.  From working out if it is humanly possible to travel to all Australian capital cities in less then 24 hours, seeing Year 3-4 presenting data into different formats, as well as our Kindergarten students showing me how well they can write, trace and even colour inside the lines. I definitely miss my time being a full time teacher.

Beginning of School Year Mass - Monday 7th Feb

Congratulations to our 2022 student leaders who had their badges blessed on Monday at Mass and read the student pledge for 2022. Out 2022 leaders are already showing their great leadership qualities in all school areas. Well done leaders.

Band for Years 3-6 Starting Soon!

I have been in contact with James from the conservatorium and the Band Program for all students in Year 3-6 will be commencing this upcoming Wednesday 16th February. Please note that band for 2022 will be on every Wednesday this year, instead of Monday. New instruments for the Year 3 students have arrived and are ready to go. Can I ask that all of the students who had taken their instruments home over the school holidays to make sure their instruments are returned back to school before this upcoming Wednesday.

Swimming Carnival - Tuesday 15th February

Our Swimming Carnival will be held this upcoming Tuesday 15th February. Thank you to all of the parents who completed their child/children's nomination forms promptly. It is very much appreciated. I do hope that you didn't have any hassles completing the nomination forms on the Compass app. Also to ensure that we are following the COVID restrictions as well as assisting with the catering of our barbecue lunch, can you please make sure if you would like a steak or a sausage sandwich that you complete the order by midday on Monday 14th February.

For students who qualify for the Diocesan Swimming Carnival that will take place at Gunnedah on Thursday 24th February that they need to return their permission slips by Friday 18th February as nominations are due on this day. At the moment I will be there at the carnival as the team manager for the day.

Parents please make sure you are familiar with the COVID restrictions. We are asking that parents stay on the entrance side of the pool and the children on the opposite side of the pool. This is to ensure we maintain the social distance from all children - apart from your own.

We ask that you take time to go through the contents carefully and update information as required and complete and return forms by the date listed above.

Please return this paperwork whether you have any changes or not by tomorrow. THANK YOU
