Its hard to believe that we are at the end of the Semester and mid-year term break is upon us. As previously mentioned, semester one certainly brought its challenges, but I would like to congratulate all the 7 to 9 cohort for their resilience and generally positive mindset, especially in term two. Whilst many excursions and incursions were cancelled or postponed, students and staff quickly made adjustments to courses and programs to allow the learning to continue in an engaging way.
Year 9 have just completed another step in their transition into year 10 2022 with two days of information regarding year 10 curriculum options, the senior school expectations and options for VCE and VCAL in the future. The students spent time at senior school finding out more from Domain Leaders regarding career pathways, subject choices and potential opportunities. They were also treated to a sausage sizzle with the year 10 to 12 students and entertained in the Cafeteria area by our year 10 music students.
Year 8 students were also given an information session on campus regarding elective options for year 9 2022 and how to go online to make their selections.
Students from year 8 to 11 have all been sent access codes for the selection process and this must be completed by July 12th. Please do not hesitate to make contact with your child’s student manager or Head of Sub School, should you have any queries regarding this process.
We have had many new enrolments throughout the term, and we welcome our new members to the Campus and hope that they are settling in well. Some even joined us during lockdown, which can be difficult to manage. Well done to the students who have been supporting our newest members of the cohort by looking out for them and making them feel welcome. Any parent who has concerns about their young person settling into their new environment should not hesitate to call the Student Manager or Head of Sub School.
Lady Mary Montgomerie Currie once said that “all things come to those who wait” and our Dance Students have certainly been waiting to bring their Winter dance Performance to you, not being able to bring a live performance to the stage for over 18 months now! Whilst this time it needed to be postponed due to lockdown only one week before the performance, we all look forward to bringing Winter dance and our Music Soiree to you at the beginning of term three. Keep an eye out for Compass posts regarding tickets sales. This of course, will be depend on changes to Government restrictions on audiences.
It was a delight to sit in on some of the audition process for our upcoming musical High School Musical. Whether you be an actor, singer, dancer, musician, stagehand, costume designer/maker, lighting assistant, set constructor or general helper, we would love all students from year 7 to 12 to be involved with this amazing and fun production. Rehearsals will take place throughout term 3, concluding with a week of performances at the end of term. If you would like to join the cast or crew, please see or email Laura Washington or Fiona Bechtold for more information.
I hope that you all enjoy a well earned break and come back ready to learn and refreshed for the remainder of semester two.
