A Message from

Wembley Primary School Principal

Acknowledgment of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri, Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung  Peoples of the Kulin Nation and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. Aboriginal people have a deep and continuous connection to the place now called Victoria. Aboriginal people have lived in the Maribyrnong River valley for over 40,000 years.

Welcome to week five. It's hard to believe we have almost reached half way through term one of this 11 week term.

This past fortnight at Wembley PS we have had continued engaging learning opportunities for all students, developments around our building works, meet and greet parent and teacher meetings, preparation for our writing pupil free day on Wednesday 22 February, a School Council meeting, preparation for a School Council Election, hockey clinics, conclusion of the 5/6 Beach Program, and most importantly the return of BREAKFAST CLUB, which will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the eating area.

Donate Life - Vale Katie Clemmens

Bella Clemmens, teacher of Prep C, kindly invited me to share this inspiring story with our community, that was aired on channel 9 on Tuesday 21 February, about her late mother Katie, with our community, in the effort to encourage people to Donate Life: https://www.donatelife.gov.au/ . Katie was fatally injured in a car accident in 2022, and Rob, Emily and Bella and the extended Clemmens family chose to donate Katie's organ's in order to save the lives of countless people.

We send our continued love to the Clemmens family, and honour Katie's remarkable legacy.

Pupil Free Day - 6 +1 Writing Traits

Please visit the learning and teaching tab to learn about the FANTASTIC 6 +1 writing traits pupil free day. We would like to extend an enormous thank you to Katie McClue, Melanie Irons, Joel Magnabosco, Renee Johnson and Adriana Jankulovski, who have researched, planned and facilitated this professional learning day, which has been one year in the making.

We also thank Theircare and the WPA for coordinating child care, and community buildings events today. I hear Gumbuya World has been great fun for children and adults alike.

We would like to share that the reason we hold our Curriculum Days on Wednesdays is because all staff members (full and part time) are in, thus maximising the professional learning and collaboration opportunities.  Students do not attend school on these days. School Council set these dates well in advance from the end of 2022, to enable families to make appropriate arrangements for childcare. See the important dates newsletter tab to find out more information regarding schools dates and times, to assist with family planning.
