Parents' and Carers' Coffee Morning
We warmly invite all of our parents and carers to join us in the staffroom for our final Coffee Morning for 2026 on Tuesday 20th October from 9:00–9:30am.
Our wonderful community volunteers Sheri Seyit and Anna Terzi will be making traditional Turkish coffee for everyone to enjoy. If you’d like, you’re also very welcome to bring along something yummy to share.
What makes our school community so special is the strong partnership between our families and our school. Whether you’ve joined us before or haven’t yet had the chance to come along, we’d love to welcome you for a coffee, a chat, and an opportunity to connect with other families and members of our school community.

Awesomeness Day
On Wednesday 4th of November, Newport Lakes Primary School’s Stand Up Project (SUP) Leaders will be hosting Awesomeness Day, previously known as ‘OK to Be Me Day’, or ‘I Believe in Us Day’. The day consists of fun activities for all ages, all planned by our very own SUP Leaders. Students will be given the option to dress in casual clothes, and contrary to previous years, we will not be asking for a gold coin donation.
Awesomeness Day encourages students to be proud of our school’s diversity and teaches them to respect and appreciate who they are! The theme for the day is Lakes Learners Are Respectful, which encourages students to celebrate our school’s diversity and appreciate what makes each of us unique, including our different cultures, backgrounds, abilities, and whether we are neurodivergent or neurotypical.
Our very own SUP Leaders will visit classes from Foundation–Grade 4 to help students learn about the importance of being themselves and respecting others for who they are. The 5/6 teachers will be delivering the lessons to their classes. As leaders we have been working hard planning lessons for everyone, and we hope that students will enjoy and engage with them. Below is a preview of the different grades and their lessons.
Foundation
Our Foundies will be learning about respecting people who may be different to us. They will explore what makes each of us special and why it is important to celebrate our differences.
Year 1/2
Our Year 1 and 2 students will be focusing on friendship, kindness, and respectful communication. They will explore how compliments can help ‘fill someone’s bucket’ and learn ways to confidently express their feelings, solve small friendship problems, and communicate what they need in a kind and respectful way.
Year 3/4
Our Year 3 and 4 students will be learning about treating others how they would like to be treated, and exploring how our words and actions can affect others.
Year 5/6
Our Year 5 and 6 students will be exploring diversity and developing a greater understanding and appreciation of the different ways people think, feel, and experience the world.
All SUP Leaders hope that students will enjoy the lessons we have created and take something positive away from the day. We also hope you enjoy Awesomeness Day and that we see lots of kindness, respect, and compassion across our school, not only on the 4th November, but continuing well beyond Awesomeness Day!
