From the Principal

St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating over 40 years of Catholic Education

Dear Families and Friends,

It has been another very BIG week at St Justin's with many great events taking place.

Please read on to find out all about our week 9.

It is hard to believe there is only 1 week left of Term 1!

Harmony Day - Everyone Belongs

On Thursday we celebrated Harmony Day. The theme for the day was “Everyone Belongs”. Our day started with a whole school assembly, where our Year 6 Leaders introduced Harmony Day and led us in prayer. Students were also involved in activites around harmony Day in thier classrooms.

Students were invited to dress with a touch of orange for Harmony Day. Orange is chosen as the color for Harmony Day because it relates to open communication, fostering two-way conversations, and encouraging the development of new ideas.  By wearing orange, people show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia, celebrating the various cultures that make up the country.

Harmony Day Prayer

Creator God, the God who made us all in His likeness and who wants us to be happy, this day is about recognising, and spreading, joy and love amongst your people.

Help us to see that we can make a change and bring harmony to our world.

This day is about recognising, and spreading, hope and peace through our words and actions as we dialogue with others.

Help us to feel that we are making a change and bringing harmony to our world.

Just as the colours of the rainbow are many and varied and come together as a reminder of your promise and a sign of hope,

so, too, may the many colours of our different cultures, beliefs, thoughts,

and understandings come together to bring about harmony through

respect, inclusion and belonging.

This we ask through Christ our Lord.

Amen

House Cross Country

On Wednesday  our Year 3-6 students competed in our school cross country. Competing in their respective age groups, students completed either a 2km or 3km course around the school grounds.

It was a terrific morning with strong participation and excellent performances. The top 10 students from each age group now will represent the school at the District Cross Country Carnival in Term 2.

Well done to Blue who took out the carnival by a very narrow margin.

Final scores:

Thank you to all staff and parent volunteers who assisted on the day.

Visitors to school

A reminder that all visitors must report to the school office before entering any other areas of the school premises.

We also take the opportunity to remind parents, grandparents and carers that they not talk to students through the school fence when the children are playing outside.

This ensures a safe and secure environment for everyone on the school premises and ensures that all persons are reporting to the office as per our policy and procedures around visitors to our school.

Visitor Toilet

There may be times when parents or grandparents need to use the toilet while visiting our school. To ensure the safety of all of our community, we ask that visiting adults use the toilet located near the office - please do not use the student toilets. This can then ensure the safety of everyone.

Collecting Students during the School Day

We have had many enquiries as to how to arrange collection of students during the course of the day for appointments. Our preference is that appointments are made outside of school hours as every hour out of school is less learning time.  We understand that there are some times where this is not always possible.  Please ensure that you notify your child’s classroom teacher via email or contact the office to advise the the following:

  • Pickup Time (Outside of Recess (11:05am- 11:45am) & Lunchtime (1:20pm – 2:00pm) as it is a challenge to get the students off the playground!
  • Advise whether your child will be returning after their appointment or if they will need to take their school bag home with them.

Once you have arrived at school to collect your child/children, it is a legal requirement that you sign them out via the iPad at the office.  You do this by choosing “Sign Out” and then “Student”.

You must then wait for your child who can ONLY be collected from the Administration (Office) area.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

All the best,

Pat
