Year 6 Orientation and Step Up
A reminder that next Tuesday, 9th December, is Year 6-7 orientation day, where our Year 6 students attend their 2026 secondary college. They do not come to Albion North but are expected to go directly to the secondary college they will be attending next year. This is an exciting opportunity for them to get a taste of secondary life before they officially begin next year. I am sure many of them will get home after school on Tuesday having already made new friends with students from other schools who are in their new class. I look forward to speaking with the students on Wednesday to see how their experience was.
On this same day all our F-5 students will have a step up morning from 9:00 -11:00am where they will experience what 2026 will look like. This will also include our 2026 Foundation students, who will have their final transition session.
School Drop Off and Pick Up
The streets surrounding our school are extremely busy, especially during the peak times of school drop off and pick up. As there is limited parking around the school we understand it can be difficult to find a parking space during these times, however we are wanting all of our students to be safe at all times and during these peak hours we have seen some situations that are concerning regarding road safety.
Please ensure that you drop off your children appropriately, by parking in appropriate areas and particularly not 'double parking'. Many of the children are still developing their road sense and due to the unpredictability of cars and drivers they do not have full awareness of their surroundings. We have witnessed some unsafe situations with students running across roads to cars, students encouraged to enter a car that is in the middle of the road, all of which are extremely dangerous. We constantly reinforce safe behaviours at school and encourage all families to reinforce this at home, not only by talking to your children and modelling the appropriate behaviours, but by also not encouraging students to take unnecessary and unsafe risks when dropping them off or picking them up after school.
Thank you for your assistance in keeping everyone safe around the roads.
Have a wonderful weekend.
