PRAYER

Gallery Image

Next Sunday we will celebrate the third week of Advent at Mass.  We will then light two purple candles on our wreath and the pink one.  This candle is sometimes called the "Shepherd's Candle," and it symbolises the joy that the shepherds felt at birth of Jesus and the joy that his birth brings to the world.  Families might like to create their own Advent Wreath at home and pray the prayer below each day:

Heavenly Father,

Your son, Jesus,

is your greatest gift to us,

a great sign of your love.

Guide us as we strive

 to walk in that love

together as a family this Advent.

As we prepare our hearts for Christmas,

bring us closer to each other and to your Son.

Amen

PAPAL FLAG

Each week we hold a flag raising ceremony which includes the National Anthem.  The school has recently purchased a Papal Flag.  Catholic schools fly the papal flag as a symbol of our connection to the Catholic Church and our leader Pope Leo.  Displaying the Vatican flag is one way for us to express and promote our Catholic heritage and values.

The Papal Flag joins the Aboriginal Flag and our national flag, the Australian Flag, with all three being flown each day.  Students from Year 6 are responsible for unfurling these flags each morning.  In the photo above you can see students from Year 5 learning the process required to hoist the flags.

PARISH NATIVITY
