We have been busy learning weather-related words in Japanese the last two weeks and we had a big final week finishing Term 3 with some fun activities. Foundation students made the first rice ball in the Japanese lesson this year and learned about the famous Japanese folktale called "Omusugi Kororin". We all made a rice ball each with a pinch of salt and seaweed.
For Grades 1 and 2, this is their second time making rice balls and everyone knew the story and they even remember how to sing a song. It is simple to make, and the typical Japanese lunch to make you full and get energy quickly.
Grades 5 and 6 Students also had experience making hiragana letters using cookie dough which I made with gingerbread receipts. It was not easy to make but we managed to create nice Hiragana cookies at the end. Grades 3 and 4 students usually have Japanese lessons after lunch, lucky last they made both rice balls and cookies. I was too busy to take some pictures but I am sure the students had a great time.
Have a wonderful holiday everyone! I am off to Japan for two weeks to see my family and see you all when I come back in Term 3.
