Community News

From the Principal

As we move toward the end of Term 1, it has been wonderful to reflect on the many moments of learning, connection, and community that have taken place across Bayside Christian College.

Over the past few weeks, our Parent Teacher Interviews provided a valuable opportunity for families and staff to partner together in support of each student’s learning journey. Thank you to all who participated so openly and thoughtfully. Your engagement is an essential part of what makes our community strong.

We also gathered recently for our Whole School Easter Worship Service, a special time to pause together and reflect on the hope found in Christ’s death and resurrection. As a College, celebrating this central truth of our faith is both a privilege and a reminder of the grace that guides all we do.

Week 6 brought fantastic energy and House spirit across both Primary and Secondary. Our Primary House Athletics Day and Secondary House Swimming Carnival saw students step up courageously, encourage one another, and celebrate friendly competition with great enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of the way students represented their Houses and supported their peers throughout both events.

This month also marks the completion of NAPLAN for our Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 students. We commend them for approaching these assessments with maturity and focus.

Looking ahead, the final weeks of term promise to be just as vibrant. Our Year 5/6 and Secondary Camps offer students valuable opportunities to grow in independence, teamwork, and resilience, while Primary Swimming continues to build confidence and safety in the water.

As we soon enter the Easter break, I am reminded that the message of Easter is one of renewal, hope, and new life. This aligns beautifully with our College theme for 2026: Flourishing. Our prayer is that every student, family, and staff member continues to grow in wisdom, character, and joy as we pursue a community where each person is nurtured to flourish in Christ.

Wishing you all the best for the end of term and Easter School Holidays.

Stephan Munyard, Principal

Flourishing in Every Season

In Psalm 92:12–15, we are given a beautiful picture of what it means to live a life grounded in faith:

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon… They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.”

These words remind us that flourishing is not dependent on circumstances, age, or stage of life. Like the palm tree that withstands harsh conditions and the cedar that stands strong and enduring, a life rooted in God is marked by resilience, stability, and quiet strength.

At Bayside, we see this lived out each day, in our students as they grow in character and confidence, in our staff as they faithfully invest in young lives, and in our families as they journey together in faith and learning.

Flourishing is not about perfection or constant success; it is about being planted well, grounded in purpose, nurtured in community, and sustained by God’s presence.

This passage also offers a hopeful perspective on the seasons of life. It speaks of continued fruitfulness and vitality, even in later years. It is a reminder that every stage of life holds purpose, and that wisdom, kindness, and faithfulness continue to have a powerful impact over time.

Ultimately, a flourishing life points beyond itself. It quietly declares, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock.” As a College community, may we continue to be deeply rooted in Him, growing, thriving, and bearing fruit in ways that reflect His goodness to those around us.

Education Support

At the moment, families may notice a higher number of Adobe Sign documents being sent from both Primary and Secondary Education Support. These may include updated IEPs, Student Profiles, External Provider Agreements, and Individual Plans.

These documents are an important part of how we work in partnership with families to support each student well. They help us ensure there is a shared understanding of a student’s needs, supports and goals, and that everyone is working together with clarity and care.

When completing Adobe Sign documents, families are encouraged to follow the prompts through to the final step to ensure the document is fully signed and submitted, as the final submit step can sometimes be missed.

We greatly appreciate families taking the time to review and complete these documents as they come through. Please feel welcome to contact Mrs Louise Van Niekerk in Primary or Mrs Jo Piening in Secondary if you have any questions.

Easter Community Market

Thank you so much to everyone who visited and helped make our Easter Community Market such a massive success. We were full to the brim with record-numbers of both Primary and Secondary student stalls and had many wonderful new stalls from the Bayside family.

A huge thank you goes to the amazing property team, Geoff and Justin who helped set up and pack up the market and the wonderful team of VM teachers who had a role in making the event so successful. We raised enough money ($960) to sponsor our four Compassion children for the next four months. What a great team effort :)

Student Image Consent Form

Given the communal nature of the school environment, your child's image will very likely be captured whilst participating in regular school activities and at community events.

Bayside Christian College acknowledges that parents and carers have the primary responsibility for determining the privacy, welfare and safety of their children, including how images of their children are used.

The College requires all parents and carers to complete the Student Images Consent Form for every child enrolled at Bayside Christian College. The form will take less than 2-minutes of your time to complete and will allow us to update our records accordingly.
