Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,

NAPLAN

As I write this newsletter report, we are coming close to the end of the Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN testing period. In general, it has been smooth sailing since the highly disrupted Year 5 Writing NAPLAN test on Day 1 of the NAPLAN window. You may have seen in media coverage that this was a nationwide interruption to the NAPLAN servers. I must say the students dealt with this delay very well, and I am so proud of how they carried themselves.

AEU STOP WORK

Next week there is a planned STOP WORK for teachers and education support staff on Tuesday 24th March. This will cause some interruption to the running of our school, and it is my intention to notify families in a separate COMPASS post as early as possible as to the affected classes.

INFORMATION SESSION & TOUR

Next Monday, 30th March, Mrs Macdonal, the School Captains, and I will be running our 2027 Foundation Families Information Morning and Tour. If you, or anyone you know, is intending to enrol in our school next year, please come along! This is mostly information for NEW families, and a lot of it will already be familiar to our established families, but everyone is more than welcome to come along.

EASTER HAT PARADE

The Junior School Council last week announced that will be again running our Easter Hat Parade at 9AM on the last day of term, Thursday 2nd April. Students will be asked to bring a gold coin donation for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. We cannot wait to see all those AMAZING creations again this year, and parents are invited to come along to enjoy the parade.

SENIOR ATHLETICS

I announced at assembly last week that this year’s victorious house for the Athletics Carnival was Hender! With our Year 6 Champions being Steph and Oliver. Congratulations to these students and to all members of the Hender House who competed on the day.

SCHOOL CONCERT & PUPIL FREE DAY

We are excited to announce our school concert will be happening on Monday 17th and Tuesday18th August at Her Majesty’s Theatre this year! Whilst we will communicate all the specific details closer to the time, I wanted to make all parents/carers aware with plenty of notice that the School Council has approved that Tuesday 18th August will be a PUPIL FREE DAY. Students will attend the Theatre for a matinee performance on this day and will have the morning to recover from their evening performance the night before. We will communicate specific times and details early in Term 3 but wanted families to know of the pupil free day to make the necessary arrangements.

Lastly, just a reminder that the dismissal time on Thursday 2nd April for the end-of-term is 2:30PM

Until I see you in person,

David Garner
