Year 6 Basketball Round Robin
GIRLS Team
It was with excitement and anticipation that the boys and girls basketball teams, along with Mr. Bull and Mrs. Harvey walked to Buckley House to participate in the Round Robin basketball tournament on Friday 19th July.
Each team was fixtured to play 4 games, maybe finals after that if we were in winning form.
The stadium is extremely impressive as we make our way down to the bottom level to compete. After a short briefing we make our way to the courts for our first match.
The first game was against Ivanhoe East P.S. We started well, getting an early lead thanks to baskets from Ivy and Ally. Great passing and shooting saw us win this match.
Next, we played Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar. Some good defence by Allegra and strong rebounding saw us ahead at half time. Great teamwork and passing saw us scoring well and we had another win.
Our third game was against Mary Immaculate. Gaining more confidence after the previous games, Millie, Aarika and Violet played really well, assisting Ivy and Ally to do most of the scoring. Anna and Ava also showed some great passes and assists. Another win and growing confidence.
The final game was against Alphington Primary. Again we got off to a great start. Noa played some great defence and assisted some scoring opportunities. All girls are now showing more confidence and playing some great basketball. Well done Ivy as top scorer.
After 4 wins we finished top of Pool A.
We played the semi final, winning quite comfortably. This means we are off to the Grand Final where we will meet Ivanhoe East PS again. A previous victory gives us confidence that we can win again. An injury to Allegra means we are one down on the bench.
Two10 minute halves and 2 umpires for the grand final. It will be tough, the girls are getting tired after 5 games. We started well taking an early lead thanks to great shooting from Ivy and Ally. Supported well with great defence. As expected they fought back and the scores were very close.
The second half was also close and competitive, the game was quite fast and competitive. With great teamwork, defence, hard running and effort we won the game 21points : 17 points.
Thanks to Ally, captain of the day. MVP for the tournament Ivy and the great teamwork, support and enthusiasm form the entire team a wonderful day was had by all.
Thanks to Mr. Bull and Mrs. Harvey for coaching and scoring and all of the families that came down to support us!
Girls team consisted of – Ally, Ivy, Allegra, Noa, Ava, Violet, Anna, Aarika and Millie. They retain the shield for until next year.
Well done champions!

We are here today to talk about the basketball tournament last Friday. May everyone in the boys' basketball team please stand up, well done to everyone who played, we all did an amazing job! Well done to Harvey for being the top scorer! In our first game we were excited to play Ivanhoe East unfortunately we lost this game by just 4 points.
Our next game was against Alphington Primary, which we also just lost this game.
Our third game was against ST Anthonys, which we won!!!
Our last game was against Mary Immaculate, we won this game by over thirty points. But with us losing our first couple games we did not make finals, but we came 3rd overall in our group.
Thanks to MS Harvey for coaching and Mr. Bull for scoring we could not of had this opportunity without them.
