The Transfiguration
During this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear the story of the Transfiguration. Peter declares that Jesus is the Messiah, but he and the other disciples do not yet fully understand what that means. When they see Jesus transfigured in glory, they are amazed and frightened. Even after witnessing this powerful moment, they still struggle in their faith, as shown by their later inability to cast out a demon.
During this Lenten season, we are invited to place ourselves alongside the disciples. We, too, are still growing in our understanding of who Jesus is and what he means for our lives. As we continue our Lenten journey, let us take time to reflect: Who is Jesus for me today, and how is he calling me to deeper faith?
Lord Jesus,
On the mountain you revealed your glory to your disciples, yet they struggled to understand what they were seeing. So often, we too are catching glimpses of who you are, still slow to trust and believe.
During this Lenten journey, open our eyes to see you more clearly and our hearts to know you more deeply. When we are confused or afraid, strengthen our faith. When we doubt, remind us of your glory.
Help us to listen to you, to follow you faithfully, and to grow each day in love and trust.
Amen.
