Principal's Report

Dear families,
As we move into another busy and productive period of the school year, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for the positive energy and commitment they continue to bring to our community at St Brigid’s College. It is wonderful to see students engaged in their learning and participating enthusiastically in the many opportunities offered across the school.
Next week, students in Year 7 and 9 will participate in NAPLAN testing. These assessments provide valuable information about student progress in literacy and numeracy and help schools better understand how to support continued learning growth. Families are encouraged to check the school calendar for the specific testing dates and to ensure students arrive at school well rested and on time. While NAPLAN represents only one snapshot of learning, we encourage students to approach the tests with confidence and simply do their best. I thank our staff for their preparation and support of students throughout this process.
I am also pleased to share an exciting initiative currently underway with our Year 9 students. This term we have launched a Student Agency Program designed to empower students to have a stronger voice in shaping their school experience. Through this program, our Year 9 cohort is exploring ways to make St Brigid’s College an even better place to learn, grow and belong. Backed by the latest educational research, students are working collaboratively to identify opportunities for improvement across the school and to develop ideas and practical solutions that will strengthen our community. It is inspiring to see students engaging thoughtfully in conversations about leadership, responsibility and the future of their school.
I would also like to congratulate the students who represented St Brigid’s College at the Black Ranges Swimming Competition last week. Our swimmers demonstrated excellent commitment, sportsmanship and determination throughout the event. Representing the college at interschool competitions is a wonderful achievement, and we are very proud of the way our students competed and supported one another. Thank you to the staff who assisted with the organisation and supervision of the day.
Our Year 10 students will also soon take part in the National Science and Engineering Challenge, an exciting day-long competition designed to provide students with a positive and engaging experience of science and engineering. During the challenge, St Brigid’s teams will compete against teams from other schools, working together to solve a range of hands-on problem-solving tasks that test creativity, teamwork and critical thinking. The experience encourages students to explore pathways in science, engineering and technology while developing valuable collaboration skills.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of St Brigid’s College. Working together as a community enables us to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where every student is encouraged to grow, contribute and flourish.
