Library Report

This year has been another busy year in the library. We hosted a Lamont Book Fair in May, where we earned $1355 in books for the school. Parents and staff who spoke to me appeared to favour the increased selection of choices provided by Lamont over the smaller selection we have received in the past from other companies, however students were a little disappointed at the lack of trinkets and posters.

In August we celebrated Book week with the CBCA theme “Read Grow Inspire” and students were asked to think about who inspired them. We saw lots of amazing costumes at the Book Week Parade. Students, parents and staff went above and beyond to create many unique and creative costumes and School Door Displays.

In term 3, Library Club was opened each recess and lunch for all students to come and find a quiet space in the library to sit and read or just quietly have a chat, while areas of the yard were closed for building works.

The library has also been running Scholastic Book Club throughout the year. Through which we have raised another $302 in books for the school. The final issue of book club for this year closed on the 27th of November and I would like to thank all parents and students for their support in these events. The events we run cannot be done without the help and support of staff, parents, students and friends in our community.

As the end of the year approaches the library is about to begin the yearly stock take to track down lost loans and tidy the library shelves ready for another busy year. This means that the library will not be open to students after the 30th of November and that all library loans need to be returned to the library by the 30th of November or as soon as possible after that date.

Thanks for all your support,

Jessica Skerry
