National Robotics Competition in Brisbane
We are thrilled to share the exciting adventure our Robotics Club experienced recently! Mr Ebert and Ms Sun had the pleasure of taking 11 students to Brisbane, where they competed in a national robotics event. Our students participated in three different categories, showcasing their hard work, creativity, and problem-solving skills and teamwork.
- Rescue Line Challenge: Jesse (7B), Isaac (8G), Asher, Gabe, Moritz (9B), Anthony (10E) and Max (10G) worked on the Rescue Line challenge, where they programmed robots to follow a line and rescue a "victim" at the end of the course. It was a true test of precision and teamwork!
- Robot Soccer: Arthur, Marko and Sullivan (9E) worked together on robot soccer, collaborating with other teams to develop robots capable of kicking balls into the opponent’s goal. Defence had to be played as well to secure the goals. The atmosphere was electric as robots clashed on the field, competing with speed and strategy.
- Maze Challenge: Austin (9A) focused on navigating a maze, programming his robot to find the exit efficiently. He had a lot of coding adjustments throughout the two days and brought back the “most significant improvement award”. Please congratulate him if you see him around on the campus!
We are incredibly proud of all our participants for their dedication and perseverance. The event was a great success, and we look forward to even more competitions in the future.
Year 11 Applied Computing
Our Year 11 students were busy with their second-last SAC. We had a Chadstone Pirate adventure game, food delivery application, and a prototype for a recycling machine built at the end. Now students are diving into network security, learning security-related risks we might face, and how to protect our security in an online environment. If you know anyone who takes Applied Computing class, you may come to say hi to check out how they are doing currently.
Year 9 Digital Technology
Our Year 9 students are getting hands-on with two important areas of technology:
- 9DTB: Focusing on Python programming, where students will learn the basics of coding to solve problems and create small applications.
- 9DTA: Delving into data analysis, where students will explore how to collect, organise, and interpret data – a crucial skill in today’s data-driven world.
Year 7 Digital Technology
Year 7 students are continuing their fun journey into the world of coding! They are using Scratch or Python Turtle to create engaging programs.
Stay Tuned
Be sure to check out our Wednesday after-school robotics club, where students can design, build, and program robots, and our Thursday lunchtime coding club. Mr Ebert, Mr Osi and Ms Sun will be there to help with collaborative projects. Let’s see where the next competition will be next year!
