Read, Grow and Inspire - Book Week

It was such an inspiring week to see all the students get fully involved with Book Week.  It was so good to see all the effort the 3/4's put into their costumes. Not only that we shared all about our favourite or inspiring stories and why we like them during literacy.  Perhaps you may read a story or two we have been working on during writing time.  The narratives they are creating in writing are filling our class library too.

Rugby Skills

The students began to learn to skills needed to play Rugby League this week.  They showed they could be excellent listeners and had a great time practicing how to pass correctly and the most important part: how to score a try!  It will be great to see their skills improve as they continue the skill drills over the next few weeks.

Math

These past two weeks we have been learning about using the correct units of measurement when calculating length and area.  Alongside this, we have had lots of practice with how to use a ruler correctly, including how to read the scale, some even to millimeters to make sure our measuring is accurate.  Our favourite quote this week was "Measure twice, cut once".  It's a reminder that in the real world of tiling, building or even cooking we want to take the time to double-check our measurements and ensure accuracy before taking any irreversible actions.  The students in 3/4  have loved the hands on and real life aspect of math this week, with lots of important discoveries being made.
