Last week the F/1/2 students enjoyed engaging in a Resilience Workshop from Kidshelpline! The kids identified what Resilience is and that Resilience can look different for different people. We spoke about the 3 steps we can use to solve problems. 1. Identify the problem, 2. Think of solutions and 3. Just keep trying. The kids also talked about how we can build ourselves up and give ourselves the confidence to try hard things.
During this Term, the students have been looking at Help Seeking through the Respectful Relationships Program. All students have been identifying people they can go to, to get help both at home and at school. Our learning of Help Seeking also went hand in hand with our PBL lesson this week where we explored National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, which was on Friday 18th August. In these activities the main theme we wanted our students to learn is that there is always someone in our lives we can go to for help if we need it. In each class, we made connection trees to talk about the connections in our lives that are important to us, as well as identifying 5 people in our lives we can get help from.
This Term I have started a small wellbeing group that is an extra class that goes over skills such as problem-solving, identifying and dealing with feelings and emotions, flexible thinking and more! Next Term I will be taking a different group of students. If you are interested in this for your child please email me rbeveridge@sjyarrajunction.catholic.edu.au
