Physical Education

What a huge two weeks we have had in sports. Grade 5/6 Hooptime, 3-6 Rugby league clinics and our special World Cup Soccer.  Much of what occurred at these events is on class pages so I'll be brief so check out the class pages for more

Hooptime

We had 27 students make up 4 teams and take part in the Hooptime.  While our results were mixed, again what stood out was, the improvement in skill and teamwork and the support all students gave to the active team.

The All-Star boys missed the final on a count back and the All-star girls too just missed out after losing a game they should have won, but as happens sometimes in sport, the ball just wouldn't go through the goal, then they lost in the dying seconds to the eventual champions.

While competitive what remained through the day was the fun element of the game.

Well done to all.

Rugby League Clinics

The 3/4, 4/5 & 6 classes will be taking part in rugby league clinics on Tuesdays for the remainder of the term.  With expert coach, Len Mason from the National Rugby League and Melbourne Storm the students are learning all the game skills and rules with the exception of tackling.  Tackling is not permitted without students going through an extensive 6-week program on technique.

Soccer World Cup

Inspired by the success of the Matilda's in the recent FIFA World Cup, we held our own World Cup.  In a complicated arrangement, we have divided each of the house colours into two squads.  Each of these squads was then divided in two again, the 4/5/6 students and the F/1/2/3 students, each given a name of a country that plays International Football in that colour.

Anthony marked out three great pitches on the oval and the 4th was on the basketball court. We played "lunchtime rules" meaning the students umpired their own games and decided what was fair play in each game.  With only 6 minute games their were no goalies.

Our grade 6 leaders also handed out a fun little laminated medal to the best player in each game.

The 4/5/6 winners game from the green King Parrot squad, playing as Nigeria - Ollie, Izaak, Jack, Summer, James and Dylan

and the F/1/2/3 had dual winners from the red Galahs squad, playing as Spain - Noah V, Bennett, Maddie, Blake L, Spencer J and from the blue Kingfishers squad, playing as Italy - Will, Cooper, Henry P, Marlee, Harry, Olivia, Mason and Archer P.
