The Arts

Congratulations to Jemima Lester, Year Two, Isla Kiddle, Year Six, Ava Kaaden, Year Eight and Finn Thomas, Year Eleven, who have all had artworks submitted to the Shaun Tan award for Young Artists at Subiaco Library. This visual art award encourages and celebrates imagination, innovation and creativity of WA young artists in Years One to Twelve.

Jemima’s artwork is a colourful, leafy sea dragon; Isla’s painting gives a unique aerial perspective of Torbay Inlet; Ava has created an exquisitely painted still life of a fruit bowl; and Finn has responded to the landscape at the Red Moort Reserve, Boxwood Hill. They are all wonderfully creative pieces.

We’d also like to congratulate Ava Kaaden for winning the youth popular vote in the Great Southern Art prize for her Red Cockatoo painting, and Milla Rutter, Year Eight, who won the 3D section for Youth. Some very talented artists!

Parent Survey – Your Voice Truly Matters

At Great Southern Grammar, our strength lies in our community and the voices of our parents are a vital part of shaping who we are and who we are becoming.

As part of a confidential school review, we have engaged MMG Education to gather feedback from parents, staff and students. This feedback will help guide future decisions and ensure we continue to provide the best possible learning, care and opportunities for your children.

We know how busy family life can be, but we genuinely encourage you to take a few moments to complete the parent survey by Sunday 17 May 2026 (extended deadline). Each family has received a unique survey link via email from MMG, and we kindly ask that one response per family is submitted.

Every response is completely confidential, and all feedback is shared with the School only in grouped form. This means you can be honest, thoughtful and open, knowing your individual responses remain anonymous.

Your experiences, perspectives and insights matter deeply. By participating, you are helping to shape the future direction of Great Southern Grammar, not just for today, but for the generations of students who will follow.

Thank you for being part of our community and for taking the time to have your say.

For any enquiries, please contact MMG Education at tony.pfeiffer@mmgedu.com.au  (02) 9369 1449

Djinda Pre‑Kindergarten Program 2027 – Applications Now Open

We are excited to announce that the Djinda Pre‑Kindergarten program for 2027 will be offered as a two‑day program (Thursday and Friday).

We are continuously reflecting on best practice and the importance of building strong, meaningful relationships with children and families. With this in mind, we have made the considered decision to move to a two‑day program.

This structure allows for greater continuity of learning, increased opportunities to develop secure relationships, and supports a smoother transition into school life.

An Application for Admission form is required by Monday 1 June.  https://gsg.to/application (Please note: submitting an Application does not guarantee a place.)

For enquiries, please contact julia.bairstow@gsg.wa.edu.au
