Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all families had a safe and enjoyable break, with time to relax, recharge and spend quality time together. Term 1 was certainly a busy and productive start to the year, and we are looking forward to another exciting and engaging term ahead.

Our students have returned well, settling quickly back into routines and demonstrating a positive approach to their learning. This term brings with it a number of key events and opportunities, including camps, sporting events and continued focus on student growth across all learning areas. We encourage all students to make the most of these experiences and to continue striving for their personal best.

This Friday we will be holding our ANZAC service in the gymnasium at 2:15pm, followed by our first general assembly of the term. We welcome families to attend.

A highlight for our school community this term will be our upcoming Bogan Bingo Night. Tickets will go on sale from Friday 24th April, and we encourage families and friends to start organising their tables early. Tables consist of 10 people, with tickets priced at $50 per person, which includes nibbles, comedy and bingo. Drinks will be available at bar prices. This promises to be a fantastic night and a great opportunity to come together as a community.

We are also looking forward to celebrating our wonderful mums and special people in our lives at our Mother’s Day Breakfast. Please keep an eye on Compass this week, with further information to be sent on Thursday, including RSVP details. The event will be held on Friday 8th May in the gymnasium, and we are excited to also showcase our amazing new PA system.

Our new school website is now live and up and running. We encourage all families to take a look and explore the updated information and features: www.torquaycollege.vic.edu.au

We have also begun planning for the future, with School Tours and 2027 enrolments now open. Please see the flyer included in this newsletter for a range of available tour dates. We encourage families to book in early and to share this information with friends and members of the community who may be considering Torquay College. Bookings can be made at https://compasstix.com/e/ht5jhpejln

As we move into the cooler months, a reminder for families to ensure students are dressed appropriately in school uniform, and continue to support good attendance habits. Every day at school makes a difference to student learning. A reminder that hats are still to be worn by students when the UV is 3 or above.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. We look forward to a successful and rewarding Term 2.

Warm regards,

Louise Kahle
