Mr Hyatt

Term 2 has begun!

Welcome back to St Patrick's for the start of Term 2. I hope all of our students, staff, and families had a safe and happy Easter, and enjoyed a wonderful, restful break over the school holidays. It has been fantastic to see the students return to school this week looking refreshed and ready to learn.

As we look at the calendar, this upcoming term promises to be a very busy and exciting one. We have a number of events and activities that the school will be involved with over the coming weeks, including the St Carlo Acutis exhibition, representative sports, and Catholic Schools Week. I look forward to sharing these experiences with our school community and working together for another highly successful term.

A huge congratulations to Harry F, the lucky winner of our 'Principal for the Day' raffle drawn at the end of Term 1. I am so excited to welcome Harry into his special role soon, complete with a principal's tie and blazer! He will spend the day assisting me in the office, and it will be fascinating to see what new school rules he decides to implement for the day.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to all of the members of our Mini Vinnies team. They dedicated their recess and lunch breaks to selling raffle tickets, and thanks to their hard work, we raised a fantastic $120 for Project Compassion!

It has been wonderful to see all the students looking so smart in their winter uniforms this week. As a quick reminder, ties are a required part of the winter uniform, and students must wear completely black school shoes. If your child is unable to wear the correct uniform for any reason, please provide a brief note to their classroom teacher or email Mrs Pittman. Thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining our high uniform standards.

Staffing Update

I am writing to let our school community know that due to ongoing health reasons, Mrs Mackson has made the difficult decision to finish up in her role as a release teacher for the unforeseeable future. As she does not currently have a set timeline for her recovery, she will be stepping away to focus fully on her health and wellbeing. I know you will all join us in keeping her in your thoughts and wishing her the very best.

To ensure consistency for our students, I am currently advertising the position to find a suitable replacement for the remainder of the school year. In the meantime, I am very pleased to welcome Mrs Jessica He, who will be filling in for Mrs Mackson for the first three weeks of Term 2.

OPEN MORNING for 2027 Kindergarten Students - 19th May 9:30am-11am

St Patrick's School will host our 2027 Open Morning on Tuesday, May 19th, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

This event provides prospective parents with the opportunity to discover what our school can offer their children. Guests will be able to meet our staff, take a tour of the campus, and enjoy morning tea. Additionally, children preparing to start school are welcome to attend and participate in activities with our current Kindergarten class.

St Patrick’s School has been invited to attend the ANZAC Day March. Those children who are available to march on this upcoming Saturday 25th April, need to assemble with the school at 10:30 am at the corner of Hill and South Streets. The service will begin at the end of the march, approximately 11:00am in ANZAC Memorial Park. After the service, the march will go down Derby Street to Fitzroy Street and finish at McHattan Park.

Parents could you please make sure:

*your son/daughter is in the correct school winter uniform, tie, black shoes and school hat

*you collect your son/daughter at McHattan Park after the march

A note was sent home via the Compass app earlier this week to find out who will be available to represent St Patrick's at this event.

Staff Development Day- Monday 25th May

Please be advised that Monday, 25th May will be a pupil-free day at St Patrick's Primary. All of our staff will be traveling to O'Connor Catholic College in Armidale to participate in the Armidale Cluster Schools Staff Development Day.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this mid-term closure may cause your family. When scheduling staff development, my priority is always to place these days immediately before or after the school holidays to minimise disruption to our families. However, on this occasion, the event organisers scheduled the day to coincide with the beginning of Catholic Schools Week so that schools across the region could gather together. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.
