Dear Parents and Carers,

What a show – Shrek the Musical JR.!

Congratulations to our incredible Year 6 students on two fabulous performances of Shrek the Musical JR. last week. We were delighted to watch our students take to the stage with such confidence and composure. Their singing, dancing and acting talent was truly outstanding, and they should all be enormously proud of what they achieved. As a school community, we certainly are!

A huge thank you to Brittany Pholi for her incredible direction and the passion she brought to every aspect of the production. Her attention to detail and creative vision brought the characters, costumes, sets, music and choreography together to create a truly memorable musical for our students and our community.

We are also very grateful to our Year 6 teaching team - Sam Robinson, Alison Bates, Maddie Hughes and Grace Hulls - for the countless hours devoted to rehearsals, sets and supporting students throughout the musical. Their tireless work behind the scenes made this achievement possible.

Thank you also to the many BPS staff members who generously contributed their time and talents, whether it was choreographing routines, bedazzling costumes, creating props or helping in the countless ways that bring a production together.

Last week we also celebrated CBCA Book Week, with students enjoying a range of literacy experiences throughout the week. Year levels participated in performances, online workshops with renowned authors and illustrators including Jess McGeachin and Freya Blackwood, and a Guess the Teacher book reading activity.

Our Year 5 students were also treated to a very special visit from Amie Kaufman, bestselling author of the Elementals and The World Between Blinks series. Not only is Amie an exceptional author, she is also a parent in our BPS community - how lucky are we!

Thank you, Amie, for generously donating your time to lead a writing workshop and book chat with our Year 5 students. We can't wait to dive into your books!

The week culminated in our annual Book Character Parade, where the creativity on display was outstanding. From Pizza and Taco to Medusa - and just about everything in between - our students embraced the joy of reading and brought their favourite book characters to life. It was a fantastic celebration of imagination, storytelling and our love of books.

BPS Short Story Competition

Congratulations to our BPS Short Story Competition winners - Archie B., Thea A., Aura A.R. and Henri V. - for their wonderful stories inspired by this year's theme, When the Music Plays. We were so impressed by the creativity and imagination shown in all the entries. Stay tuned for our next newsletter, where we'll proudly publish the winning stories for our community to enjoy!

Our Scholastic Book Fair was once again a great success! Students loved browsing the shelves and choosing exciting new books to add to their home libraries, while every purchase helped raise valuable funds to support our school.

A sincere thank you to Charlotte Molloy and the BPS staff who generously gave their time to organise and run the Book Fair. Your efforts helped create a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading across our community.

2026 Attitudes to School Survey

Recently, we proudly shared the results of our 2026 Attitudes to School Survey. This annual Victorian survey captures our Year 4–6 students' experiences of learning, wellbeing and school life. We are incredibly proud that Beaumaris Primary School outperformed similar schools, our network and the Victorian state average in 31 of the 32 areas surveyed. These outstanding results reflect the positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment we strive to create for every student.

Parent Opinion Survey

We encourage all BPS families to take the time to complete the Parent Opinion Survey. Your feedback provides valuable insights into the experiences of our families and helps us identify what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve.

Junior School Council

A big thank you to our School Captains - Indi, Paxton, Harriet and Harry - and Junior School Council members - Esther, Jarvis, Rocco and Emily - for their participation in our Term 3 School Council meeting. They confidently presented to staff and parents about their fundraising efforts, the Cake Bake and their ideas for improving our school, demonstrating the importance of student voice and agency at BPS. We look forward to seeing more of their suggestions come to life, including the oval hydration station, which will be installed next week! We are also looking forward to other school student leaders coming to School Council in Term 4.

We are looking forward to welcoming our fathers and special friends this Friday at 3pm for the Open Afternoon. Wishing all our BPS dads a very happy Father’s Day this weekend!

Finally, thank you to the Thompson family who won a competition for our school to win a set of the George the Farmer books that Year 1 students love reading as part of our Design and Technology Knowledge unit. These books will be enjoyed by Year 1s for years to come!
