Junior School Orientation

Week 6 promises to be an exciting time in the Junior School as we begin transition activities for our current Year 4 and 5 boys and welcome over 100 new students and their families to our community on Thursday. The day also provides an additional opportunity for our Year 6 boys to spend time in the Senior School. As part of their ongoing transition program, they will enjoy a morning of lessons led by Senior School staff, another valuable step in preparing them for Year 7.

We understand that this time of year can bring some anxiety for boys and parents around class placements, teachers, and friendships. Please know that significant time, care, and expertise go into creating balanced classes each year. In the Junior School, we use a dedicated software program to assist with class placements. Staff complete a detailed survey for every student, considering learning needs, social and emotional development, and friendships. Boys also nominate five friends and are guaranteed to be with at least one. While the magic of the algorithm helps, we continue spending time reviewing lists to ensure the best outcomes for every boy.

During orientation, boys will experience a classroom setting to help them prepare for 2026. Please note that these class lists are not finalised at this stage. We do not accept requests for specific teachers or placements, and we thank you for your trust as we place your son in an environment where he can thrive.

Finalised class lists will be shared individually with families by the end of the year.

God Bless,

Mr James McPherson

Head of Junior School

Last Friday, three of our Year 5 students, Alex Meakin, Will Hedley, and Oscar Archibald, represented the College at the School Sport WA Triathlon Carnival. The boys had an outstanding day, competing with pride and performing very well.

Entered in the A Division race, the team finished an impressive 4th place out of 143 teams. Alex set the tone with a strong swim, recording the 4th fastest time in the field. Will followed with a phenomenal effort on the bike, achieving the fastest bike split of the day among all 143 competitors. Oscar completed the race with a determined run, securing the 9th fastest time overall.

Congratulations, Alex, Will, and Oscar, on these fantastic achievements.
