St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.
We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.
St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating 40 years of Catholic Education
Dear Families and Friends,
It's wonderful to hear that Mr. Torpey has returned safely and is eager to share his experiences from his Spanish adventure! His stories will likely inspire and engage the students, enriching their learning environment. It is an exciting time at St. Justin's as everyone settles back into the school routine.
It sounds like the Prep students had an engaging and educational experience with the Fire Brigade this morning! Interacting with the fire truck and learning about fire safety through hands-on demonstrations can significantly enhance their understanding of important safety practices. Such experiences not only provide valuable knowledge but also help to foster a sense of respect and appreciation for the work that firefighters do.
The excitement for the Annual Fair On The Hill is building with only three weeks remaining! It's great to see the community coming together for this event. Volunteers play a crucial role in making such gatherings successful, so reaching out for assistance is a wonderful initiative. I encourage anyone who can contribute their time to get involved, as it not only helps the event run smoothly but also fosters a sense of community spirit. Looking forward to a fantastic day filled with fun and connection among families!
Have a wonderful weekend spending time with family and friends.
Planning for 2025 is well underway. If you do not require a place for your child in 2025 (except Year 6), please email the office as soon as possible: office@sjwheelershill.catholic.edu.au
We are thrilled to announce that our St Justin's Aerobics Team will be competing this Saturday, 19th of October, at Doncaster Secondary College!
Our students have put in tremendous effort and dedication, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements. Good luck to Alice H, Liana S, Sanaya G,
Arabella D, Jesse-Less D, Georgia R, Lux M, Alessia S and Carla D.
Thank to Heidi C for all her work with the team this year. Unfortunately Heidi is unable to compete next Saturday.
Let’s all wish them the best of luck as they represent our school. Go, team St Justin's!
Last Friday our year 6 students took part in the annual Hooptime Basketball competition which also teamed up with our SSV District competition.
We had 6 teams all together with a Boys and Girls All star team, 2 mixed Future Stars teams and 2 Rookie teams. This meant that each student was able to be a part of a team that was suitable to their experience and ability levels.
It was awesome to see the enjoyment on each of our year 6's faces throughout the day, with many playing basketball in a competitive environment for the very first time.
Throughout the day we had a lot of great results with teams enjoying wins and scoring baskets from all distances.
A big congratulations goes to our All Star Girls team who won the tournament going through undefeated and progressing to the Division competition.
Thank you to Mrs Lacey, Mrs Braybrook and Riley Snell for their fantastic coaching throughout the day.
The Year 6 students enjoyed this experience.

On Wednesday the 16th our All Star Girls Basketball team took part in the Division Basketball competition at Nunawading Basketball Stadium. Our team of 8 girls who won through the District competition last week took on some tougher opponents from the Monash Waverley Division.
The girls had an amazing day, winning all of their pool matches convincingly before moving into the finals. In the semi finals the girls continued their strong form, dominating the opposition and booking their place in the grand final.
Unfortunately we met our match in the final, going down to Holy Saviour narrowly. In spite of this the girls understood how great they were for the day and finished the day disappointed but still with big smiles on their faces.
Congratulations for displaying such amazing teamwork Ava O, Ava B, Lilly G, Ivy C, Arnika G, Ophelia D, Selena D and Jesse-Lee D for your outstanding efforts.

A reminder that St Justin’s is a 'Sun Smart School' and as a result, throughout October to the end of April, students are required to wear a sun protective school hat that protects the face, neck and ears. Please make sure that your child’s hat is clean, in good condition and clearly labelled. New hats can be purchased from Academy Uniforms. Students will also be encouraged to wear broad-spectrum water resistant sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and to be responsible for its reapplication throughout the day. Students are welcome to bring their own sunscreen (not to share) or apply in the mornings before coming to school. As always, students are also encouraged to have a drink bottle. Any student who forgets their hat will be asked to play in an under covered area.
In case you haven't noticed, the weather in Melbourne can change very quickly. As we have seen this week, we had beautiful weather on the weekend only to have cold, wet, windy weather during the week. During these extreme weather conditions, students may wear the uniform that suits the environment, but we do ask that it please be the school uniform and not a combination of casual clothes worn under summer uniform. The correct school uniform should always be worn to school, unless directed elsewise for special events.
Our Annual St Justin's Fair on the Hill is fast approaching with an amazing amount of work already done. Remember it is being held on Saturday 9th November 2024 from 11:00am-4:00pm.
This is also a good time to check your Working with Children Checks - our data base indicates that some have already expired and others are close to expiring - we would hate you to be rushing to volunteer only to discover your WWCC in no longer valid. For more information, please visit WWCC. Please remember that all volunteers will require a WWCC.
