Aboriginal and Australian Flag!

Thank you to Mr Phypers for teaching me how to change the flags on our two school flag poles.

We now have two new flags, an Aboriginal and an Australian flag. Our Aboriginal flag is flown on the pole at the basketball courts and our Australian flag is flown in front of my office at the front of the school.

National Sorry Day - May 26th

National Sorry Day, is a day of remembrance and reflection on the Stolen Generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children forcibly removed from their families in the 20th century. It's a time to acknowledge the past, express solidarity, and work towards reconciliation.

Let us appreciate the incredible strength and culture of our First Nations people. Let's honour the stories of the Stolen Generations and show our support to the survivors and their families who carry the weight of their experiences.

Reconciliation Week

The theme for 2025 is 'Bridging Now to Next', prompting Australians to look ahead and continue to push forward towards a more united and respectful nation, with past lessons as guidance.

Reconciliation Week focuses on building respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

At PVNPS we acknowledge our Indigenous culture and embed our learnings through discussions, stories, lessons and activities within our curriculum.

Eid al-Adha

Eid is expected to begin on the evening of Friday 6th June  until Tuesday 10th June.

This is ' the Feast of Scarifice' and is a major celebration for our muslisms worldwide.

Special prayers at mosques occur  and many other traditions occur. It is a time to dress up and wear new clothes.

'Wishing you joy this Eid'

Principals from New Zealand

As I am on the council of the Victorian Principals Association (VPA), we have agreed to host a number of visiting Principals from New Zealand to our school.

They will be visiting some of our classrooms to see some best practice in our phonics program and our Maths instructional model.

We are very excited to be able to showcase all the wonderful teaching and learning approaches we are implementing here at PVNPS.
