Highlights of the Week!

Academic Awards Night
What a fantastic night celebrating the achievements of our Balmoral students!
Our Academic Awards Night recognised the hard work, dedication and excellence of students across the school. Congratulations to all award recipients—you should be incredibly proud of your achievements.
Thank you to our families and wider school community for joining us and for the encouragement you provide throughout the year. Behind every achievement is a network of people helping our students succeed.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors for their generous support, and to the staff, performers and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the evening such a success.
It was a wonderful celebration of our students and the community that supports them. Well done, Balmoral!

Instrumental Music
End of Year Concert “The Final Chord”
Our Instrumental Music students played their final concert for the year on Saturday! With our Arts Hall out of action our students took to the stage at Wynnum SHS for “The Final Chord”.
We had fantastic performances from our Concert Bands (Secounda and Prima), Jazz Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Saxophone Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. This was also our final concert with our Year 12 cohort; we are sad to see them go but wish them all the best in their future endeavours!
Thank you to all the parents and staff that came along and supported our wonderful instrumental music students!
Australian Honours Ensemble Program
Congratulations to our two Year 12 flute students Bianca Guse and Ash Taylor who recently performed as part of the Australian Honours Ensemble at the Queensland Conservatorium.
This program is highly competitive with students having to complete a rigorous round of auditions before being accepted. This is a huge musical accomplishment!
Well done Bianca and Ash!
Griffith University International High School Experience Day
On Tuesday 20 October, our international students enjoyed a taste of university life at Griffith University’s International High School Experience Day.
Students explored course options, attended a lecture and toured the campus, with a koala and its joey providing an extra highlight!
The students represented Balmoral with pride and demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout the day. Thank you to Mr Sharman for accompanying and supporting them.
Creative Upcycling with Kazza’s Creations
Our Year 10 and 11 Fashion students welcomed sewing extraordinaire Karen from Kazza’s Creations, who shared her creative approach to upcycling denim and keeping textile waste out of landfill.
Karen showcased her intricately adorned bags, clothing and accessories, inspiring students to explore how pre-loved textiles can be transformed into something new.
Thank you, Karen, for sharing your skills, creativity and passion for sustainable fashion!
Last Friday, our First Nations students joined more than 200 students from local schools at the EPIC Pathways Final Celebration Day, marking the end of another successful year of connection and personal achievement.
Throughout the year, EPIC Pathways mentors have visited our school each week, building strong and trusted relationships with our students. Through regular Mentor Hub sessions, students have developed valuable interpersonal skills, strengthened their confidence and deepened their connection to Culture. The mentors play an important role in supporting our young people, providing encouragement and setting positive expectations.
The celebration day brought students together to recognise these achievements and the positive impact of the program. Students were also able to participate in a range of workshops, including weaving with Aunty Barb from Sandpoppy.
Students were also excited to hear from special guests Brisbane Broncos player Ezra Mam and local musician Say True God, whose stories inspired students to be proud of who they are, embrace opportunities and strive for success both in and out of the classroom.
Following these workshops, mentors were presented with a beautifully painted skateboard created by Year 10 student Shonaya, as a gift of appreciation for their ongoing commitment and support. The presentation was a special and meaningful moment that reflected the gratitude and respect our students have for their mentors and the difference they make in their lives.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the school and grateful to the EPIC Pathways team for their continued dedication to supporting and empowering our young people.
