From the Year 4 Classroom
Who can believe it is Term 3 already? We have had a fabulous start to the Term and we are looking forward to some sunny days ahead.
You’re a poet and you didn’t even know it!!!!
In Reading, we are learning about Poetry. Throughout this topic, we have been reading lots of different poems and identifying their different text features, such as rhythm, rhyme, line breaks, repetition and imagery. We have also been learning to:
- See the images a poet creates (VISUALISE)
- Learn the information a poet shares (SYNTHESISING)
- Follow the story a poet tells (INFERRING)
- Feel the emotions the poetry is trying to evoke (MAKE CONNECTIONS)
In Writing, we have been learning about how Poets write poems. We have written a free verse poem, a shape poem, a haiku poem and a limerick. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be working on our Poetry Anthologies. We can’t wait to share them with you all!!
In Maths, we are learning different strategies to multiply one, two and three digit numbers by. We have learnt the grid multiplication method. Ask your child to share this method with you. It would be of great benefit if all students could continue to learn and revise the timetables.
In R.E. our students have begun learning about Jesus’ Parables. During this unit, students are learning about some of the parables Jesus told, the message they convey, and how they can relate them to their own lives.
In Inquiry, we are learning about the 2024 Olympics in Paris. We are studying the athletes, sports, the history of the games and the city of Paris.
Below are some photos of some project work that we completed last term during our Inquiry Unit.
