From the Year 2 Classroom
Year 2 have had a great start to Term 3. We have settled into our learning with great zest.
In Reading and Writing we have started our unit on Poetry. As we are reading are noticing word choice, poetry features and different types of poems. We are also learning how to read poems using matching tone and emotions. In our writing lessons we are becoming poets. We are writing Free Verse, One Word, Two Word and Haiku poems. Our Numeracy lessons are all about Place Value. We are revisiting different ways of reading numbers, problem solving activities, and critical thinking regarding numbers. Next week we start looking at Multiplication and repeated addition.
Our discussions before school, recess and lunch this week have been all things Olympics. The students look forward to watching some of the Games during eating time as well as discussing our medal tally. We are learning about the Olympic Sports and Australian athletes in our Inquiry Unit. The students are enthusiastic in their researching.
The students enjoyed sharing their books and learning with their grandparents on Grandparent's Day.
Last Tuesday we went to the church and visited Father Junjun. He shared the story of Our Lady of Fatima and showed the students the statue of Our Lady. He answered many questions about the story, Jesus and the church.
