From the Year 1 Classroom

What a fabulous start our Year 1 students have made in Term 3!

We have launched into our Reading and Writing Poetry Unit, and we certainly have found many aspiring young poets! We look forward to sharing lots of published poems as the term goes on. Mrs. Hargreaves is away on Long Service Leave for Week 2 and Week 3, and we are lucky to have the lovely Mrs. D filling in.

We are enjoying exploring division in Maths, where we are learning to share equal groups, to solve everyday problems with and without remainders.

In Inquiry, we are grateful to be watching and supporting our Olympians in Paris! The children are loving learning about the colours and symbolism of the Olympic rings and 2024 mascots, flags of the participating countries, and the many incredible stories of our Olympians. We love hearing the daily reports from the children as they race in to tell us about the medal tally and incredible feats, they have watched on television. We are also busy looking into our families' personal histories.

In Religion, students will looking at deepening their awareness of God's presence in people and the world, through experiences of healing and forgiveness.

Just a couple of reminders:

-Please make sure all jumpers and jackets are labelled clearly as we have lots of lost property.

-We'd love to see the children reading each night and handing in their diaries each Friday.

Regards,

Sarah, Mikaela, Kerry and Michelle.
