Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Your Best.

This week we are focusing on understanding the importance of showing respect in our school community and demonstrating respectful behaviour towards our peers, teachers, and school staff through our actions and words.

Our fortnightly blitz is:

“Treat each other with RESPECT. That is how we be our BEST!”

The Resilience Project

We work closely with The Resilience Project to support the well-being of our school community. The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs and provides evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the Parent & Carer Hub with you. The videos are 5-10 minutes long and will walk through the key pillars of resilience with some new content: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, Connection & Vulnerability. You’ll hear stories and be introduced to activities to show how these strategies can support your children's learning and development, and also support you as parents and carers.

Today’s presentation from The Resilience Project is all about Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is an intentional awareness generated by paying attention to a whole experience; being present in the moment. It’s important to explore what mindfulness strategies are helpful for you.

Thousands of studies have proven benefits include reduced stress, reduced rumination, increased memory, increased cognitive function and physical health benefits through improved immunity.

Hugh highlights some things that mindfulness improves; concentration, quality of thoughts and equanimity (ability to let go). He also shares some mindfulness strategies to use and implement yourself and with your children. For mental health resources and support information, visit The Resilience Project’s Support Page.
