From the Year 6 Classroom

In Literacy, the students have been learning about Poetry. We have been exploring and writing Odes, Ballads, and Free Verse poetry. Analysing the structure and poetic devices used in these various forms of poetry.

In Numeracy, the students have been learning about Time. Focusing on telling the time to the minute, hour, elapsed time, converting 12 and 24 hour time and understanding time zones across Australia and the World. We are moving into a unit on Money. Calculating change and discounts on items and solving money word problems. 

In other news, We had two students represent our school at the State Cross Country in YarraGlen. Summer New and Amelie Coll both performed outstandingly in very trying conditions and should be immensely proud. We would like to congratulate them both on their efforts. We would like to congratulate Sally Howell on making it through to the next stage of the Lions Club Public Speaking competition. 

Sally presented her speech with great confidence and engaged the audience. We wish her all the best for the Regional 

Last Friday the students represented the school at the Lightning Premiership here in Yarrawonga. They competed against students from other schools in the surrounding area in Football, Soccer and Netball. All students displayed great sportsmanship across the day.
