Principal's Report
Term 4, Week 3

Dear St FX Parents and Carers,
Bishop Peter Murphy
Bishop Peter Murphy, frequently undertakes pastoral visits to parishes throughout our Armidale Diocese as a central part of his ministry. These visits are an important opportunity for the Bishop to directly engage with the local Catholic community, offering encouragement, celebrating Mass, administering the Sacrament of Confirmation, and meeting with parish councils and school staff. It was wonderful to share an afternoon tea and discuss all the wonderful things about our school and families.
Margie Burns Stage 3 visit
Margie Burns, a Women's Health Nurse based in Narrabri, focuses her community health work on essential preventative health services in the region. A significant part of her role involves educating our young students about their own personal and physical development - also known as puberty. Thank you to all our parents who gave up their time to attend the after school sessions.
Term 4 Excursions
Thank you to Karlee Hatton, Rhonda McInnes, Lucy Geddes, Lucy Suttor and Amanda Hardy who volunteered to take our Year 4 students away to Lake Keepit Sport & Recreation Centre for 2 days.
Lucy Suttor, Jessica Craig, Erica Maslen and Mark Rottger are accompanying our Year 6 students in Canberra this week. Without staff offering to supervise excursions, they simply would not go ahead. We greatly appreciate teachers volunteering to be away from their families and daily lives to provide such a wonderful experience.
Kindergarten Transition Sessions
This Thursday, 30th October 2025, marks the end of our Kindergarten Transition Program for 2025. We will be celebrating our final session with a Graduation Ceremony at 12:15pm under the COLA. We look forward to seeing all the transition families here, not only for the Graduation, but also being able to officially welcome them to our beautiful school in the 2026 school year.
High School Transition
Speaking of transitions, we have had several of our Year 6 students attending their own transition programs as they prepare to venture off to High School. Both Narrabri High School and St Mary’s College, Gunnedah have commenced their transition sessions, with further sessions planned across the rest of this term.
Parents - Are you interested in the following?
Student Advisory Committee:
A School Advisory Committee serves as a key consultative body for the primary school principal, fostering a strong link between the school and its wider community. Its primary role is to offer advice and recommendations on non-operational strategic matters, such as the school's long-term vision and mission. Our AGM will be held on Tuesday 4th November at 5:00pm in the St Francis Xavier’s Staffroom and we are looking to fill 3 positions. Please contact the school office for a nomination form.
Commitment: one meeting per school term (outside work hours)
Federation Farm Parent Representative:
The Narrabri Federation Farm is a unique community asset and share farm that provides financial and educational support to the local Narrabri schools. The St Francis Xavier’s Parent Representative on the committee is a crucial liaison. This representative helps uphold the farm’s objective as an educational resource and confirms the financial returns are used to enhance the overall learning environment and student opportunities within our school community.
Commitment: one meeting per school term (outside work hours)
Have a great week!
