On the Court: Trafalgar Basketballers Make Their Mark

It was a fantastic day of basketball for Trafalgar Primary School at the Warragul District Basketball Competition on Friday 28 August, with six teams representing our school at the Warragul Leisure Centre.

Our students embraced the opportunity to compete against schools from across the district, demonstrating excellent teamwork, determination and a willingness to keep improving throughout the day. With teams competing across both the boys' and girls' competitions, it was great to see so many students putting their skills into practice and supporting their teammates on and off the court.

Our Boys A team had an outstanding day, finishing 1st and earning the opportunity to progress to the West Gippsland Divisional stage of the SSV Summer Sports competition. Congratulations to the team on this fantastic achievement!

Across the six teams, our students enjoyed plenty of competitive basketball and valuable experience, with the Girls A team finishing 3rd, Girls B 4th, Boys B 6th, Girls C 6th and Boys C 7th. More importantly, every team continued to compete and improve throughout the day.

A special thank you to the parent volunteers who coached our teams. Your time, enthusiasm and support made a significant contribution to the experience our students were able to enjoy.

Congratulations to all of our basketballers, and best of luck to our Boys A team as they prepare for the next stage of competition!

💜 Bullying No Way Week – Small Acts, Big Impact

During Week 6, Trafalgar Primary School came together to recognise Bullying No Way Week 2026, with this year’s theme Small Acts, Big Impact.

Throughout the week, students explored how the small things we say and do each day can make a difference. A kind word, including someone in a game, checking if someone is okay, helping someone out or speaking up when something isn’t right may seem small, but together these actions help create a school where everyone feels safe, respected, included and that they belong.

A highlight of the week was our whole-school Kindness Tree. Every student was encouraged to think of one small act of kindness they could make and record it on a Kindness Leaf. These were brought together to create a wonderful visual reminder of what can happen when our whole school community chooses kindness.

We also introduced our special Gold Kindness Leaves. Throughout the week, staff and Peer Mediators looked out for students demonstrating genuine acts of kindness in the yard. These students were recognised at our Small Acts, Big Impact Assembly and invited to add their Gold Leaf to the Kindness Tree.

A very special thank you also goes to our 2026 Peer Mediators, who played an important role throughout the week. They visited classrooms to introduce the theme and activities, helped promote our messages of kindness and inclusion, and continue to support younger students and positive relationships in our yard each day. We are very proud of the leadership they have shown.

It was wonderful to finish the week together at our Small Acts, Big Impact Assembly, and to have families join us as we celebrated our students and unveiled our Whole-School Kindness Tree.

While Bullying No Way Week may be over for another year, its message is something we hope continues every day at TPS: Small acts can have a BIG impact. 💜

📚 Book Week Parade – Better Late Than Never!

Our Book Week Parade may have been delayed, but that certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm at Trafalgar Primary School! When the big day finally arrived, our students and staff embraced the spirit of Book Week with incredible enthusiasm, creativity and plenty of fun. From much-loved storybook characters to clever and colourful costumes, it was wonderful to see so many students and staff getting into the spirit of celebrating books and reading. 

A huge thank you to everyone who put so much effort into their costumes.  You certainly made our parade one to remember!
