Dental Care for Children

Affordable dental care is available for all families. Below are three free or low-cost options

Option 1: Smile Patrol

Coming to Altona College – 17th November 2025 (see Compass notification)

Free check-ups and treatment for students eligible for CDBS

Private check-ups available (at parent cost) for students not eligible for CDBS

Option 2: Cohealth Community Dental Care

Free for all children aged 0–12 (no concession or Medicare card required)

Children aged 13–17 may be eligible for free care if: They or their parent/guardian hold a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or they qualify for CDBS.

Available at three local Cohealth clinics – More Information: cohealth.org.au/service/dental-care

Option 3 Smile Squad – Victorian Government School Dental Program

Completely free dental care provided onsite at school

Available to all students in Victorian government primary and secondary schools

No Medicare card, Health Care Card or CDBS required

Bookings are arranged once schools are invited by the dental agency and are expected at Altona College in 2026 (exact date to be confirmed)

Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

What is Triple P?

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is a well-researched and practical program designed to help parents manage common behavioural and emotional challenges in children. It empowers parents to create healthier relationships with their children by promoting positive behaviour and building a strong foundation for their child’s emotional wellbeing.

The Triple P Online course specifically focuses on children under 12 years old. This program provides parents with easy-to-follow strategies and techniques that can be implemented in day-to-day life. It’s a flexible, self-paced learning option that is ideal for busy families.

Why Triple P?

Parenting can feel overwhelming at times, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The Triple P Online Program helps parents feel more confident and supported by providing practical, evidence-based tools.
