From the Principal

We are entering exciting times with the official opening of our new school building just around the corner. Students and specialist staff have now moved into the space, and it is delivering on everything we had hoped for. I particularly enjoy seeing our lower junior students making the most of the new playground, which has already been in use for the past six months.
Our student-free day on Tuesday was very productive, with a strong focus on skill development that will directly enhance the way we plan and teach. Staff were fully engaged in the workshop on supporting student wellbeing and exploring new curriculum initiatives. The Department of Education is undertaking significant work to maximise effective planning and improve student outcomes, and it was great to see our staff so committed to this process.
Student voice was well and truly evident on Wednesday, when we held a Comfy Clothes/PJ Day. Only a handful of students came in school uniform – I suspect they may have simply forgotten – but I must say our staff embraced the theme wholeheartedly. This fun event was an initiative from our Student Representative Council (SRC), and it was wonderful to see it so well supported.
Once again, our Wednesday assembly was held online. While this format can be challenging at times, our students do a fantastic job of adapting, sometimes with very little notice. With the warmer weather on the way, we look forward to resuming our regular outdoor assemblies soon.
Preparations for our upcoming school concert are progressing well. I have had the pleasure of watching some rehearsals, and I can confidently say it is shaping up to be an exciting event.
Our girls’ aerobics team is also in Tasmania this weekend for the Schools National Aerobics Championships. We wish them – and the staff supporting them – all the best for a successful competition. Their routine is looking polished after many hours of hard work.
This week, we also took delivery of the final bus in our replacement program. While the process has taken some time, we are now proud to have a full fleet of brand-new buses.
It is also the time of year when planning for the next school year shifts into high gear. We have already received many enrolment enquiries and continue to conduct regular school tours, with very positive feedback from visiting families.
Finally, a note of excitement for PLC 2 – late next week they will be heading off to Camp Manyung for an overnight stay. The anticipation is building, and I’m sure it will be a wonderful experience for all involved.
