From the Directors of Boarding

Welcome to the first Boarding Buzz of Term Two, and to National Boarding Week!
Term Two has commenced with great enthusiasm, as evidenced by the many smiling faces in the Boarding precinct and the active participation in school, boarding, and cocurricular activities. Under the exceptional leadership of our Boarding Captain, Chloe Climie, and supported by our boarding leaders, National Boarding Week has been an outstanding success and has brought many moments of joy and reflection. A variety of events, including the Boarders' Assembly, have also provided emerging leaders with the chance to contribute in various ways, ensuring a wonderful week-long celebration of our Boarding community. Special thanks to Mr Jordan Owenell, Deputy Principal - Head of Secondary, Ms Liz Stewart, Head of Breaksea House, and Mrs Di Franzinelli, Boarding Administrator, for their invaluable contributions.
We have thoroughly enjoyed settling into our new roles as Directors of Boarding. From the outset, it was wonderful to see the students so at ease, quickly settling back into their routines this term, even with the change in staff. This was particularly reassuring for both of us, as one of our primary aims for the term was to ensure a smooth transition.
During the first few weeks, we took the time to send out correspondence to families, staff, and students regarding the standards and routines of boarding. This was a great opportunity to provide a refresher, not because there were any big changes, but to remind students of the processes and procedures that help us all thrive within the boarding community. As always, these rules and guidelines can evolve, but this was a valuable moment to reinforce awareness and establish a fresh start, as we both step into our roles.
We are both looking forward to the upcoming Boarding Parent Committee meeting, which offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the strengths of Great Southern Grammar Boarding, identify key areas for development, and plan for upcoming events on the school and boarding calendars.
Thank you to everyone for making this place so special.
