Religious Education News

Hello St. Mary’s families!
I feel very excited and privileged to be leading the school in our Catholic faith journey this year as your new Religious Education Coordinator taking over from Jayne (big shoes to fill!).
We have set a date for the Beginning of year Mass which will be on Wednesday the 5th of March at 10am at the church. This celebration sets the tone for our year and also includes our very special ‘Buddy Blessing’ for our Gr 6s and Prep students which is always a highlight. All are welcome and invited to attend.
Our 3-6 students will also be attending the Ash Wednesday parish Mass on the 18th of February while the junior children participate in an Ash Wednesday service led by the teachers at school. This is a focal point in our Catholic calendar as we enter the Lenten season which gives us the opportunity to reflect and renew ourselves in preparation for Easter.
The Project Compassion (organised by Caritas) campaign happens during Lent and is a way we can almsgive to those less fortunate than ourselves. Information about this and Project Compassion boxes will be distributed soon.
For anyone who is wanting their child to celebrate any sacraments this year, I will pop any information needed about meetings etc. on here when I know what the plan is, so keep an eye on this space!
My door/email is always open for any questions or queries; I may not have the answers right away but hopefully I can be of help in this area. Looking forward to a great year!
