Principal's Report

Welcome to our first newsletter of the new school year. It has been exciting to welcome both returning students and families, as well as our new ones, to a school that looks a little different to when we last saw it!

Thank you to all students, staff and families who have so diligently read our communications and followed directions as we work around our newly modified grounds. This has meant a safe, smooth start to school, despite the loss of play space. 

The new classrooms in the Senior Learning Centre look brilliant. Whilst the timeline was incredibly tight, the building team, alongside our staff team, ensured these spaces were ready for students on day 1.

Our new Prep students have been welcomed into a new area to the school, both within their classrooms and when they are in the yard. Again, I sincerely thank our staff for the time and effort across the past couple of weeks, and at the end of last year, to ensure this new space was ready for our youngest students. 

The demolition of what last year was our music room is well underway. Following this, the portable classrooms that previously housed our Prep students, as well as the old junior playground, will also be removed. Once the demolition works are completed, the grounds will begin to be prepared for laying foundations for the gymnasium.

Whilst all of this goes on, our learning and wellbeing programs for the year are underway! Students are participating in our ‘start-up’ program, building their class culture and setting the expectations that will be the foundation for how they will achieve together this year. 

Earlier in the week, our school leaders laid similar foundations with our staff that included:

• A focus on our school vision and values, and how this sets the culture in our school. 
• Extended sessions from our learning and wellbeing leaders on our annual focus areas for student achievement and school climate. 
• Targeted modules on Child Safety, Asthma and Anaphylaxis and Mandatory Reporting. 
• Building project updates and planning.
• Classroom preparation. 

For families new to our school, our newsletter is published on a fortnightly basis. I do expect all families to read it, as it provides great insight into what is happening at our school, as well as information regarding upcoming events.
