Secondary School

Our Secondary School has been buzzing throughout Week Ten. At Great Southern Grammar, our motto is Wisdom and Knowledge, and it has been wonderful to see our students living this out in meaningful ways.

Our Year Ten students have been out in the wider community completing Work Experience placements, gaining valuable insight into potential career pathways and developing the wisdom to help guide their future subject selections.

Meanwhile, our Year Twelve ATAR students are undertaking their Semester Two examinations. The Library has been full of students studying with focus and determination, sharing knowledge with their peers, supporting one another with compassion, and approaching their exams with courage and resilience.

This Thursday, our Year Nine families will come together at Middleton Beach Bowling Club to continue the conversations that form part of our Rites of Passage Program. The program is designed to support young people as they transition from adolescence into adulthood. Evenings such as these help spark important conversations about the opportunities and responsibilities that accompany this stage of life.

Our 2027 Student Leaders Retreat also takes place this week. The retreat begins with a walk to Castle Rock, where students pause to reflect on the remarkable region in which we live. The day concludes with a celebration dinner, before our incoming Year Eleven leaders spend Thursday participating in workshops, developing goals and preparing for the year ahead.

Congratulations to our GSG Orienteers, who claimed back-to-back GSSSSA Orienteering Championships with a series of outstanding performances on Friday. Orienteering is the ultimate test of fitness, focus and decision-making, requiring competitors to think clearly while their legs are telling them to stop. Our students combined speed, navigation skills and cool heads under pressure to once again bring home the championship trophy. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their resilience, teamwork and determination.

Well done to all competitors for representing GSG with pride and proving that sometimes the fastest route to success is not always a straight line.
