Japanese
Welcome back to Term 3 Japanese.
It has been wonderful to see everyone return with enthusiasm and readiness to learn.
Congratulations to Spain supporters on FIFA world cup victory.
Students created origami soccer jerseys. As part of our cultural learning, we explored the Japanese value of keeping shared spaces clean and tidy a way of showing respect for self and others. We discussed how Japanese soccer players and fans are well known for cleaning up after matches, leaving stadiums spotless by collecting any rubbish before they leave. Students reflected on how this simple act demonstrates responsibility, respect, and care fore the community - values we can all practise at school.
Digital Technologies
Grade 3&4
This term, the Grade 3 students will be introduced to Ozobots, the small programmable robots that help develop coding skills. Students will learn how to program their Ozobot using colour codes, creating patterns of two, three or four coloured blocks that the robots can recognise and follow. The Grade 4 students will re-visit Ozobots, building on their prior knowledge by using an online platform to drag and drop code blocks to program their robot’s movements, LED lights and sounds.
Grade 5&6
This term, the Grade 5 & 6 students will explore the program Scratch to create interactive visual projects. Students will develop block-based coding algorithms, apply computational thinking, and de-bug their programming to identify and correct errors throughout the design process.
Physical Education
Prep – Grade 2
The Prep – Grade 2 students have continued preparing for the P-3 Junior House Athletics Day, which is coming up in a few weeks on Thursday 6th August. During our PE sessions, students have been learning and practising the correct sequence and technique of the scissor kick for high jump, as well as the grip, stance and weight transfer for the frisbee throw. Students have shown great enthusiasm as they develop their skills and confidence in preparation for the event.
